I’ve been toying the idea of acquiring a tow vehicle. That way I can make the race van a real race van. My first instinct was Econoline, because a van must pull a van. But I may make an exception with these.

Decent price for a clean titled southern truck. Diesel isn’t my favorite engine option, but I know they can pull. I can’t figure out why, but something about the V10 entices me more.

When you said decent price and before I clicked on the ad, I assumed it was going to be 15k+.

Np based on the steering wheel cover alone.

I’ve got a buddy with a 6 door Excursion for his big family.

Buying smaller size tires to save money is generally a bad sign, but at that price? Probably worth the risk. (probably)

I’ve got a similar one in the van

These are great trucks. As long as the PO did regular oil changes. The injectors are driven off oil pressure and running old oil through them will eventually ruin them. That’s what happens to my Father in Law’s. He is notoriously bad at vehicle maintenance, either because he’s too busy or too cheap. It caught up with him in his Excursion at about 190,000 miles the injectors needed to be replaced. And they are about 200 bucks a piece plus labor.

However they are great trucks, toy haulers, family haulers. He bought his so that he could haul his 4 kids and their 25ft boat, plus all their camping stuff, and it did that job for years. Plus being a plow truck, And a daily driver. It was still in active duty for the first few years my wife and I were married and it was used for several rode trips. It’s even better than a mini van for road trips because of that middle row bench seat.

Edit: i just realized this one is a 7.3 not the 6.0.

If a regular excursion was isnt big enough you had too many damn kids.

A 7.3 Excursion for that money, you should be on your way already!

Diesel is the only way I’d be interested in one of these. The V10s are gas hogs and don’t tow nearly as nicely as their diesel counterparts .

That is some strangely patchy clear coat failure. But at that price? I expected like 15k to be cheap, not 5k. That leaves you with 10k left for gas!

I had an F350 crewcab dually, with the V10 and 5 speed manual, that was primarily used to pull a 49' tri-axle gooseneck and usually scaling over 33k loaded. The mountain passes were brutal for this combo was, although the temperature gauge never budged while climbing some grades in 2nd gear and 100+ degrees. Fuel economy was also dismal with this combo.

A buddy bought a V10 Excursion for his wife to tow their horses. He says it does almost as well a his F250 diesel, again, in the mountains.

I loved the V10 in the F350. The fuel economy was even respectable when running without a trailer.

You’ll be fine towing the van with the V10.

Her grandfather also lives with them, fwiw.

He’s big into Lightnings - owns a couple , and buys & sells them.

A trailer and van would be about 5,000-6,000 lbs. Powerstroke or Triton shouldn’t struggle with that.

That price is less than half what I expected. You could probably buy it, use it a few years, and get your money back.

My goodness, in a twist of events the van man buys an incredibly large truck/suv. Shocking! Through the ride height alone would certainly make this a fun toy for sure.

I have previously written about how this would be my dream tow vehicle. It’s a semi truck that hasn’t fully grown up yet!

I have zero need for a tow vehicle but would still love one of these or a Dodge Dreamer.
